This term we will be studying information reports and looking at ‘Homes and Habitats'. This unit will culminate in a visit to Taronga Zoo on the 22nd of September.

Curriculum

Literacy- English

We will continue to follow the Jolly Phonics  Program this term and we will be expanding our skills in reading and writing our vowel sounds and alternatives. We will be concentrating heavily on writing as we begin to write more detailed sentences and focus on informative text. This term we will continue to develop our sight words.

 

Guided Reading Groups will run this term from 9.40- 11.10 Mon, Tues, Wed and Thurs. If you can pop in anytime to help during these sessions there is always something you can help with. I value any contribution you can make.

 

In Speaking and Listening this term students will be talking about set topics in News. Please see the table.

 

Numeracy- Mathematics

Mathematics will be taught explicitly through hands on activities and Targeted Early Numeracy games.

 

Mrs Langholz will be teaching the Number, Space and Working Mathematically components, while Mrs Rufford will teach Space and Measurement.

 

Science

Mrs Audet will be teaching a Science unit ‘Staying Alive'.  It will complement our zoo excursion.

 

Human Society and Its Environment (History and Geography)

This term we will be completing a Geography unit about ‘Homes and Habitats'. We will be learning about the importance of places and how we can look after them.

 

Creative and Practical Arts.

For Creative and Practical Arts this term will studying  music, art, drama and dance in preparation of our whole school performance. This unit will culminate in the ‘Beast and the Beast' performance on the 13th and 14th of September.

PE, PD, Health

We will be doing Gymnastics each Monday afternoon this term.  We will also be doing Child protection which is a mandatory program. Peer support continues.

 

This term is full of exciting learning opportunities. There is so much going on and we will be creating lifelong memories. Remember to keep in contact with me as we work in partnership improving outcomes for your children.
